WSD Hires New Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum
   
     The Wentzville School District Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Jennifer Allen as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the 2012-2013 school year. 
     Dr. Allen is a native of St. Louis and a graduate of Lafayette High School. She holds a B.A. in English and a Masters of Education from Truman State University, a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and an Educational Doctorate from Saint Louis University. Dr. Allen has taught English at the high school level in the Wright City, Mexico, Columbia, and Pattonville school districts before being named an Assistant Principal at Pattonville High School. 
     She has also served in the Pattonville District as the Director of Instructional Support Services and the Director of Secondary Education. "I am excited to be joining the Wentzville School District," said Dr. Allen. "The district is known in the St. Louis area for innovation and continually looking for ways to meet the needs of its students. I look forward to being part of Wentzville’s focus on ensuring all students are successful."

GM Investing $380 Million in Wentzville Plant Expansion

     GM is investing $380 million at the plant for retooling and equipment upgrades, and it says this injection of cash will create or retain 1,260 jobs.
     Specific details about the next-gen North American Chevrolet Colorado are still unclear, but elsewhere in the world, buyers are treated to a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder under the hood. It will come as no surprise that we're crossing our fingers for that engine, but we expect a gasoline powered engine to be the new truck's mainstay power plant.
     Governor Jay Nixon will join other state, county and city officials at the GM Wentzville Assembly Plant Monday morning for to celebrate a massive expansion of the plant.
     Construction is set to begin on a $380 million plant expansion of the GM Wentzville plant. The plans were announced back in November. The Wentzville Board and the Mayor approved grading to begin at last weeks Board Meeting.
     The plant additions will be used for the production of the newly designed Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck.

Wentzville Teen Injured In Auto Crash


     Wentzville teen Sydney M. Lance, 16, was injured in an car accident Monday at the intersection of Highway P and Highway 61.
      Lance had stopped at a stop sign but she did not yield to traffic, and was then hit by a tractor trailer truck driven by Michael D. Bobeen, of Troy Misssouri.

     When Lance tried to accelerate after she turned then tried to change lanes to the right. Then she hit a pickup that was driven by Darren E. Smith, of Foristell, who was also going southbound.

     Then Lance traveled off the left side of the road, crossed the median and went into the northbound lanes of Hwy. 61, where she struck a van an being driven by Matthew W. Martin, of Foristell.

     The Missouri Highway Patrol said that Lance was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. It is unknown if she was wearing a safety belt.

Two Wentzville Women Could Be Charged With Animal Cruelty

Dozens of charges possible for two women renting a Wentzville home full of animals and several children.
     The children were roved from the home because of unsanitary conditions due to dozens of dogs, cats and even a goat that were living inside the home      
    Wentzville police noted that the animals were without water or food and one animal was dead.  Also two more dogs were found within a fenced area without food and some cats were inside a shed on the premises.
     A total of 11 dogs, 14 cats, more than a dozen birds and even a rabbit and goat were removed from the property and taken to a local Wentzville veterinarian.  The child removed were transported to the Division of Family Services.
     The women were arrested by police but soon after were release pending charges.  The total charges may be up to 45 on animal cruelty and five counts on child endangerment.
